Shadows of Arkham
Shadows of Arkham is one of the rollercoasters which has been available at Parque Warner Madrid
ever since the park’s opening in 2002.
In those days it was known as Batman la Fuga (“Batman the Escape”).
It was renamed Batman Arkham Asylum in 2017, in reference to the fictional psychiatric hospital in
Gotham City.
It’s current name came in 2023, the same year as the theme park’s
Batman Gotham City Escape opened and is likely to have been to
help distinguish the two rollercoasters.
Shadows of Arkham is a B&M Inverted Coaster, and follows the familiar Batman layout seen on other similarly
Batman themed examples of the model.
There’s an initial vertical loop followed by a zero-G roll and second vertical loop, with a powerful helix and
two wingovers forming the final half of the ride.
In the tradition of old school B&Ms, its forceful and intense with the train whipping its way through
each element.
Perhaps there’s even a little too much intensity, although Shadows of Arkham is undeniably a great ride.
