A beekeeping dinosaur
Down in the basement of Madame Freudenreich Curiosités (the French souvenir shop run by a friendly looking old lady) lies a big surprise:
it is no longer a wine cellar but has been converted into a dinosaur breeding ground!
The dark ride at Europa-Park takes families on a tour around the dinosaurs which inhabit Madame Freudenreich’s
basement and overgrown garden, where they will see the dinos living their day to day lives of eating cake, beekeeping, cooking and playing with the babies.
Riders sit in blue coloured two seater ride vehicles which are on a continuous loop, parading slowly through the various dark ride scenes all in a line.
It all has a very different vibe to Universum der Energie which formerly occupied the space.
Previous riders will quickly recognise Madame Freudenreich Curiosités is “just” a retheme of that ride, with many of the dinosaur animatronics reused.
The dark serious tone of Universum der Energie is gone though, to be replaced by bright colourful scenes full of fun and humour which makes it a much more entertaining ride
and an entierly new experience.
Theming really helps and is up to the usual high standard from Mack Rides and Europa-Park.
While it isn’t a modern high-tech dark ride, inside riders will find a party atmosphere, detailed scenes and some little easter eggs and mini-storytelling bits and pieces to spot.
The ride entrance is easy to find, through a shopfront to the left of Eurosat – CanCan Coaster (it actually is housed in the basement of
Eurosat’s ride building!).
Madame Freudenreich Curiosités is a pleasing, amusing family dark ride.
It is long – ride throughs take over five minutes – which is a bit of a stretch for a dark ride past dinosaur animatronics, but thankfully its all much more fun-filled than
the slightly boring earnestness of the old Universum der Energie.
