Ricochet
Ricochet is a wild mouse rollercoaster at Carowinds, and was opened to celebrate
the theme park’s 30th anniversary in 2002.
The ride was part of a new themed area – Carolina Boardwalk – with a wooden lookout tower, vague beach themed props on the station building,
and the fence enclosing the ride featuring large black and white photos of beach scenes from years ago.
It is the Compact version of Mack’s Wilde Maus, which means it is slightly smaller than some wild mouse coasters
but does still have the usual series of tight switchback corners and steep drops.
Carowinds’ version employs the trim brakes quite agressively though, making it feel less “wild” than many.
Overall Ricochet is a very standard wild mouse coaster, albeit smaller and slower than other examples.
It’s fun as all wild mice are, but nothing much to write home about.
