The Star Gold Coast brings local charities to the fore this May

The Star Gold Coast is supporting four local charities this May in what its calling Community Month.

The month-long campaign feature four immersive interactive windows designed to hero the work of the hotel’s key charity partners, Surf Life Saving Queensland, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, GIVIT and RizeUp Australia.

Throughout the month of May, diners at The Star Gold Coast’s participating restaurants – Garden Kitchen & Bar, Harvest Buffet, Uncle Su, Cucina Vivo, Kiyomi and Nineteen at The Star – will a receive a ‘free’ donation token with every main meal purchase, which can be deposited into their chosen charity’s donation stations on site.

The Star Gold Coast will then convert the tokens into a direct donation to each community partner at the end of the month, contributing $1 for every token placed.

“We are incredibly proud to work alongside an array of local organisations that make an important contribution to the wellbeing of Queenslanders, from protecting wildlife and keeping our beaches safe, to aiding recovery efforts in the wake of disaster and supporting vulnerable families,” said The Star Gold Coast General Manager, Ian Brown,

“This initiative allows us to highlight the stories of our charity partners in a way that is both engaging and educational for locals and guests.”

For Surf Life Saving Queensland & the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service, the campaign provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of beach safety and recognise its network of volunteers.

“We’re excited to be part of this unique activation that helps share our history and showcases the support from our volunteers and staff in promoting beach safety on the ground and in the air to the millions who visit our coastline each year,” said Surf Life Saving Queensland CEO, Dave Whimpey.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s Head of Partnerships, Jason Thomas, said support is invaluable to their lifesaving work.

“Partnerships like this mean we can continue to provide lifesaving care for the more than 16,000 sick, injured and orphaned wildlife patients we see each year. We’re grateful for The Star Gold Coast’s continued support in helping raise awareness about our mission to protect Australia’s precious wildlife,” Thomas said.

GIVIT CEO, Chris Staines, said: “The Star Gold Coast’s Community Month is a great way for GIVIT to demonstrate how simple it is to give exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed most.”

For RizeUp Australia CEO, Nicolle Edwards, the campaign represents an opportunity to drive awareness around domestic and family violence and highlight how people can help.

“This initiative demonstrates the power of collective support,” Edwards said.

“The Star Gold Coast’s Community Month campaign centres around our flagship ‘Homes Program’ that recognises the importance of a safe and nurturing haven, transforming a simple dwelling into a warm and welcoming home.

“The support of The Star Gold Coast and its guests will help provide vital resources for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and connect more people with our mission to create safe, supportive environments.”

In addition to the interactive displays, The Star Gold Coast’s team members will participate in a series of community engagement initiatives throughout the month.
